Final Fantasy Agito Starts In The World Of Type-0, Your Decisions Change The Story

Final Fantasy Agito Starts In The World Of Type 0, Your Decisions Change The Story

This week’s Famitsu magazine revealed that Final Fantasy Agito, a title that will give players a look at the history of the first bout of Final Fantasy Type-0 is currently in development for iOS and Android devices. Now, we have more details regarding the upcoming game, including information on a new character.

According to the magazine report, Final Fantasy Agito will be a free-to-play title with premium items you can purchase with cash.

Hajime Tabata, known for directing Final Fantasy Type-0 and The 3rd Birthday will be assuming the role of producer for Final Fantasy Agito. The new character in the game, Myu Kagerohi (pictured on the right of the screenshot), will be a representative cadet in Final Fantasy Agito. She will be voiced by Haruka Tomatsu, known for the voice of Asuna in Sword Art Online.

The main character of the game will be a cadet who can be customized by the player. The flow of the game will be similar to those of other free-to-play mobile games, where you have Action Power that is recovered over time and is consumed when you accept missions. There will be decision making options that change the outcome of the story. There is also amsystem, where you can get support from specific allies in missions by becoming friendlier with them.

The first part of Final Fantasy Agito will be about the history of Orience, the world of Final Fantasy Type-0. From the second part onward, the main story that changes according to your choices, will take over. The story will progress through chapters, and once you complete it all, it will start over from the beginning. This allows you to experience different story routes by choosing other choices from what you previously selected.

According to the report, each chapter will consist of about two weeks of playtime. Out of the 14 days, 10 will be spent on the “Solo Play Phase,” where you’ll be taking on missions as individual characters. You’ll be spending the other four days on what’s known as the “Team Play Phase,” where you’ll be taking on bosses with a team.

There will be a job system, with exclusive abilities for each job. Famitsu also reports that the game supports asynchronous play, so you won’t have to worry about the time you play with others. Additionally, game’s system will allow you to follow through the story without the need for leveling too much. The cash paid premium items will have features such as Action Power recovery items, ability lotteries, and continues for failed missions.

Final Fantasy Agito is slated for release this winter for Android and iOS devices.

The Witch and the Hundred Knights Impressions Metallica Plays A Trick On You

The Witch and the Hundred Knights Impressions: Metallica Plays A Trick On You

The Witch and the Hundred Knights, one of Nippon Ichi Software's most ambitious games yet, has just been released in Japan this past Thursday. I sat down and played about an hour or so of the newly-released game up to the entire first chapter and I've barely scratched the surface of The Witch and The Hundred Knights.

'

I'll spare you the details that we've already covered here at Siliconera, and dive right into the parts that haven't already been mentioned ' most of it being the tutorial stage that happens before even the opening monologue for the game, which introduces the setting proper for the first time, plays.

'

Your point-of-view in this game is from the eyes of the legendary beast The Hundred Knights. At the beginning of the game, you find yourself asleep in a deep, dark abyss somewhere, when you're suddenly awoken by the voice of Metallica the Marsh Witch.

'

Initially you can't make sense of the voice, which is speaking to you in a language unfamiliar to you. But after Metallica casts a spell that automatically interprets the regular world's spoken language into your native tongue, her words start making sense.

'

She wants to take you somewhere. But first things first: the voice wants to know if you're understanding her correctly. So she asks for your name, which brings up the age-old "name your player character" alphabet/kana entry screen. I typed in Hyakki in English, a short form of sorts for Hyakkihei or "The Hundred Knights" in Japanese (but you can enter anything you want, in English letters or Japanese kana). Metallica seems to be pleased with the answer, that her words are getting through.

'

Then she completely disregards your input, tries to come up with a new name for you, fails to come up with anything cool-sounding, and decides to just call you Hyakkihei (literally "The Hundred Knights") anyway. It doesn't matter what your name is!

'

Metallica tells you to remember Hyakkihei as your new name. Not entirely sure if you understand that, she yells at you to acknowledge her command if you comprehend. That's where we're introduced to the first time the game's Self-assertion system, which lets you pick from four responses (agree, disagree, doubt or ignore) using a radial dialogue tree not unlike that in Mass Effect. Not all the responses are appropriate or selectable in every dialogue in the game. In this case, you can only pick from the "agree" or the "ignore" option. I picked to ignore Metallica to piss her off. Hyakki is a better name!

'

For the next 30 minutes or so, Metallica attempts to lead you to a gate where she can teleport you out of the magical realm you are trapped in, into the actual world. It would have taken less time for Metallica to teleport our hero out of the magical realm he's stuck in. Unfortunately, there appears to be some sort of interference from an intruder other than Metallica herself so her teleport spells are not working correctly. Before long a giant chimera starts chasing The Hundred Knights around.

'

The Witch and the Hundred Knights Impressions: Metallica Plays A Trick On You

'

The tutorial introduces all of the basics of the game ' locking on, dodging, sprinting, attacking, how to eat your enemies (they have to be at less than 25% health) to replenish your Gigacalorie meter (if it depletes, you take a -30% demerit to your attack strength and defense, plus you can no longer spring as that consumes stamina which requires Gigacalorie to refill), and the Witch Domination system.

'

Because the teleportation spell has gone haywire, The Hundred Knights finds himself in front of a small villa where a young girl and her grandma appears to reside in. The grandmother appears to be the one who narrates the story's humble beginnings in the monologue after the tutorial.

'

This scene appears to bear no significance at first. The young girl is pestering her grandma to tell her a story. But a few more teleportations later, it is revealed that the realm has somehow gone haywire as well, and we're brought back to the villa This time, however, the grandmother has gone evil and is trying to devour her granddaughter. Metallica orders The Hundred Knights to put a stop to this.

'

The Witch and the Hundred Knights Impressions: Metallica Plays A Trick On You

'

A few more detours later, and we finally reach a teleport gate from which Metallica can extract The Hundred Knights. Before we can escape, the annoying chimera who has been chasing our hero around manages to find his way to the gate as well, and stands in the way. Fortunately, since the gate allows more of Metallica's magical powers to manifest, the chimera takes a punch in the face from a gigantic green arm that emerges from the gate, and quickly meets its untimely demise.

'

The Witch and the Hundred Knights is out in stores now in Japan. An English version has been confirmed by NIS America, but has not been dated yet.

See The Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes Scene Made Specially For Tokyo Game Show

See The Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes Scene Made Specially For Tokyo Game Show

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be an open-world game that takes place in the vast desert of Afghanistan, and various other countries. The game will also feature a prologue, this time known as Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. Series creator Hideo Kojima demonstrated the game's opening stage at Tokyo Game Show.

The footage starts at the 5:40 mark with the opening video. While we may have seen the same trailer earlier this year, this is actually the finalized version with credits. Kojima comments that this cutscene, along with about 90% of the scenes in the entire game, are done in a one-shot fashion, describing it as a recording done by a single cameraman.

Some of you may know that Hideo Kojima is a film enthusiast, and he actually wanted make the game look like a feature film by having multiple angles, but he held himself back and stuck to one angle, for the most part, in order to give it a more immersive feeling.

In addition to the cutscenes being done in one-shot, they will also be done in a seamless manner, where the gameplay will connect directly to the scene, and start where it ends. While Kojima was told to not say anything about this ahead of time, he went ahead and revealed that keeping an eye open for clues during the cutscenes will be something to look forward to in the game.

What we see in the gameplay footage is considered “complete,” but Kojima Productions are constantly making adjustments to aspects of the visuals such as lighting and modeling, so we might end up seeing something completely different by the time it is released, according to the director.

As previously stated in an earlier interview, Kojima reiterates that every area you see in the cutscenes will be possible to visit during gameplay. The Ground Zeroes part will act as a prologue to the main game of Metal Gear Solid V, which will be used as a way to get used to the controls and the overall feel of the game.

During the Ground Zeroes portion, the area will be smaller and the time will remain the same, unlike the later part of the game that takes place in Afghanistan and other locations, and will revolve around a 24-hour clock, in addition to a weather mechanism system. Around the 3:35 mark of the video, we can get a look at how the seamless transition from cutscene to gameplay.

Next, we get a look at the binocular features. This can be used to mark enemies and also gauge their distances. Additionally, by looking at certain places or objects, you can request some background information.

At around 5:39, we see a lens flare effect that goes with a particular sound. This means that if you had been playing the main part of the game, you would’ve been caught. Since the Ground Zeroes part is more of a tutorial stage, you won’t have to worry as much about being seen from far.

In the third part, we see Snake continuing his objective of finding Chico. After finding someone who appears to be Chico hiding under a tent, he makes his move to take out the two guards who are also looking for Chico. In such situation, it will be crucial to take out both of them at the same time, as taking  just one of them out would simply alert the other.

Once you get a hold of one of the guards, you’ll have the choice of killing, knocking out or questioning the target. In this scenario, Snake uses him to  call out his partner, in order to successfully take out the two at the same time. After saving Chico, the next step is to find a way out, by calling a helicopter.

By using the overview map, you’ll be prompted to look for areas with a circle to land the chopper. The white circles are safe landing spots, but they’re a bit further away. In the footage, they decide to go with a much closer red circle, which also means danger.

While KojiPro did try returning to the previous area with the hidden vehicle during the demo, it appears as if someone drove it away, which means Snake has to run to the landing spot. Enemies will notice the helicopter and will attempt to shoot it down, so it will be important to take them out along the way. The main part of the game will have multiple helicopters, but in Ground Zeroes, you’ll only have one.

At around 3:00, we get a look at the slow motion bullet time feature that will be used to “help out” during Ground Zeroes. This feature starts out with the classic Metal Gear “!” mark. We get another look at it at 3:25, but this time, Snake throws the body he was originally going to hide, at another guard to knock him out.

After reaching the helicopter, you’ll be required to take out any assailants before and during take off to get out safely. At around 5:02 we see Snake get hit by a shot, which is indicated by a red marker on the screen interface. This will help you know which direction the shots are coming from.

The last part of the footage was actually made for the Tokyo Game Show demo, and won’t be part of the game. After Snake puts the “Kojima Productions” badge ON, it is then revealed that the person they saved wasn’t Chico, but aN S-Rank cardboard box maker, who is nonetheless welcomed to the team by Kaz.

The footage humorously concludes with Kaz informing Snake that Chico’s location cannot be revealed at Tokyo Game Show, and that the objective of saving Chico and Paz will continue on the full version.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is in development for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
